Administrator of the Year Nomination
The TFLA Administrator of the Year Award is given to school
administrators who have distinguished themselves by their support of the
foreign language program in their schools. A committee will select the
recipient of the award and the presentation will be made at the TFLA
Fall Conference. Please consider superintendents and principals (K - 12)
and deans and presidents (college level) who deserve our recognition.
Submit this nomination form by May 1. Nominators will also be
recognized.

The Texas Foreign Language Association awards this honor to an
individual who has been exceptionally supportive of the profession. The
award is offered only as deemed necessary. Please submit the following

Teacher
of the Year
Each year the Texas Foreign
Language Association recognizes a Teacher of the Year for the different
languages, a
college/university Teacher of the Year, and an outstanding young
Teacher of the Year (with three years or less experience). The Teachers
of
the Year will be presented at the Spring Conference. Factors considered
in
selecting the Teachers of the Year are: evidence of outstanding
teaching, TFLA involvement, campus and language activities, professional
contributions, curriculum development and/or publishing, awards,
and teaching experience. If you wish to nominate one of your TFLA
colleagues
for this honor, please fill out the form below and submit it with
your letter of recommendation. Nominees will be notified and requested
to
submit supportive letters. Your Letter of Recommendation must Accompany
the Nomination Teachers of the Year are requested to offer a session
or workshop at the fall or spring conference during the next academic
year

Year Teacher Conference Scholarship
The TFLA would like to recognize the contributions
first year teachers make to the profession by awarding a scholarship
to cover the cost of registration and lodging at the TFLA Spring
Conference. If you wish to be considered, please complete the this

Rosemary Patterson Professional Development Scholarship
Rosemary Patterson was an outstanding Spanish Teacher for many years at Amarillo High School where she served
as a source of inspiration and role model for teachers and students alike. Known for her intelligence, vast
knowledge of Spanish, quick wit and ability to reason, and her strong support for and active presence over the years
in TFLA, Rosemary devoted her life to foreign language education. When she passed away in 2003, she willed part
of her estate to the Texas Foreign Language Association, which will use the bequest for present and future Texas
language teacher scholarships. TFLA has honored Rosemary Patterson by naming the Professional Development
Scholarship Fund in her memory.

T.Earle Hamilton Student Scholarship
In honor of T. Earle Hamilton, the founder of the Texas Foreign Language association, a scholarship ranging from $250 to $1500 is presented to outstanding high school seniors who have completed at least the third level of second language study and plan to continue the study of a second language at the university level.
Nominations: TFLA members may nominate ONE student each year. The TFLA Scholarship Committee will select scholarship winners based on academic language study and plans for continued language study.
Recipient Requirements: If possible, the recipient should plan to attend the Spring conference and Award luncheon to receive the award.
To fulfill the terms of the award, recipient will be expected to present a session at the following fall or spring conference to share their experience.

The Cemanahuac Educational Community Scholarship
TFLA is pleased to cooperate with the Cemanahuac Educational Community Scholarship Program. The scholarship program offers Spanish language classes and intensive study of the arts and history of Mexico in an atmosphere of total immersion in the language and culture in the city of eternal spring, Cuernavaca, Mexico. It is designed for K - 16 Spanish teachers and includes two-weeks of study, a home stay with a Mexican family, and one field study excursion. Transportaion expenses are not included.
